Ekaterina SHIMANOVICH (soprano)

Ekaterina Shimanovich was born in Minsk.

In 1998, she entered the Byelorussian Academy of Music in 1998. She subsequently studied at Saint-Petersburg State Conservatory under guidance of Grayr Khanedanian and graduated in 2004.

Soloist at the Mariinsky Academy of Young Singers since 2003. Joined the Mariinsky Opera Company in 2008.

Prize-winner at the National L.P. Alexandrovskaya Competition of Young Singers (1998).

Diploma of honor at the International Glinka Competition.

In 2004, Ekaterina Shimanovich performed at the Aix-en-Provence Music Festival as Fata Morgana in The Love for Three Oranges.

In 2005 she toured with the Mariinsky Opera Company to Luxemburg, Germany, China and Japan.

In 2008, she performed the soprano part in Shostakovich's Fourteenth Symphony (in Beijing). In 2009, she took part in the International Festival of Savonlinna, performing the role of Helen of Troy (Mefistofele).
