
Born April 2, 1953 in Kharkov. From 1960 to 1971 studied at the Kharkiv Secondary Special Music School (Class F.E. Ioffe and V. Krichevsky). In the period from 1968 to 1970, regular sessions with a teacher, the chair of the Kiev Conservatory, V.V. Topilin. From 1971 to 1977 studied at the Moscow Conservatory (class of B. Davidovich, S. Dorensky). From 1978 – Musical Opera Studio of the Moscow Conservatory and in vocal classes G. Titz, I. Maslennikov, N.L. Dorliak.
Since 1991 teaches at the Faculty of Piano Accompaniment. Since 2000 – professor.
Many of his students became laureates of international and All-Union competitions, successfully completed postgraduate studies and work as a concertmasters in opera theaters, in conservatories, teach in music schools.
Igor Kotlyarevsky combine his work in vocal classes with concert work and performances with renowned soloists, instrumentalists and singers: I. Arkhipova, V. Chernov, D. Hvorostovsky, A. Brusilovsky, N. Erasova, E. Revich, M. Gotsdinerom and many others.
Kotlyarevsky’s solo addiction lie in the field of romantic music by F. Chopin, Robert Schumann, Franz Liszt, Sergei Rachmaninov, Alexander Scriabin, Medtner and others.
Constantly performing solo concerts at the Small and the Rachmaninov Halls of Moscow Conservatory, in various cities of Russia, and foreign countries (France and Germany, Japan, Korea).
He has recorded double-CD «Creative Traditions» (2008).
